Declaration of Jeju`s Environment
Jeju is the place where nature and people are harmonized. It is an island of peace where a unique culture has developed. We have been living here with a pioneering and creative spirit, surrounded by the soul of Mt. Halla and the promise of the sea. Nature in Jeju is our life and our hope. Fresh air, clean water, pure sea and various creatures are our precious fortune and immortal inheritance with which we all should prosper. However, rapid development and quantitative growth have threatened the future of our healthy Jeju community and it's beautiful setting. Now we all have to realize we are one with nature. So we must devote ourselves to taking care of our surroundings and preserving the harmony of Nature in order to hand over an "Evergreen Jeju Special Self-Governing Province" to our children and to humanity, we sincerely pledge the following:
We will live with Nature and do our best to preserve our beautiful environment. We will practice "green" consumerism following the wise life pattern of our ancestors . We will take good care of our cultural heritage and our community life. We will support pro-environmental economic activity for sustainable development. We will positively participate in worldwide efforts supporting the environment and world peace.
